The San Luis Government celebrated today the expansion of its technological center, with the opening of the third building of the Technological Park of La Punta (PILP). It is an infrastructure that provides jobs to about 150 profiles, in its 1600 square meters. The new building was built in just 10 months and has fourteen offices, three meeting rooms, three deposits, buffet and bathrooms, spread over the ground and first floor.

Regarding the opening of PILP III, Alicia Banuelos, Universidad de La Punta (ULP) Director, said it has a “very special symbolism” because it meets the IT sector, as it was promised, and complied with the premises of the San Luis digital agenda. San Luis Digital’s objectives are to export from the province-tech products. This requires the industry, which San Luis employs, trained in this university and elsewhere, which should be up to companies that settle in the province, said Banuelos. It also promised to “continue to build buildings on the average more companies who want to settle”.

Currently, the technological center has twenty companies spread over 6370 meters square, within the three buildings, which employs 450 profiles. The park is located on the campus of the ULP, which is highlighted by employers as their main advantage. The University also has a career in software whose curriculum is specifically tailored to the needs of the sector.

“If you want to launch a spacecraft to the moon, you have to go to NASA. If you want to launch software, you must come to La Punta. People who are in San Luis are able to develop software for export and have the mentality, “said Gabriel Giani Moreno, head of the firm La Punta Soft. The businessman also said that digital inclusion in San Luis “makes puntanos think differently and that certainly can be the Silicon Valley of Argentina”.

The company from Santa Fe is one of the four companies that occupy the PILP III office. The branch was founded in the San Luis cluster inspired a new name for the company. “We felt we had to start over. Our company is called Soft Gem and headquartered in Santa Fe But we decided to give it a name that honors the city and this pole, which is a symbol of what we want to do that, is to export software. Nothing better to put a name to represent this city, and to the place that will give us the platform to launch abroad, Giani Moreno explained. Among its products, La Punta Soft develops software for home automation, such as turning on lights, moving curtains, and simulation of presence.

The company Codigo Austral develops Web-based applications and will also be in the new building. Primucci Emilio, director of the firm, said the idea is to reach the 15 profiles in the Park to develop products that will be marketed in the United States. “The secret of PILP is that the University next door, and that’s a big benefit for us,” said the entrepreneur.

The company has an office in Atlanta and 100% of its production is for the U.S. market. As an example of what they produce, Primucci said that one of its applications to synchronize an office computer, a laptop and a home computer. “If one disk drive is broken replace it installs the application of Southern Caught and recovers all the information. The Web is used as a channel of communication”, he said.

Santa Fe Kinexo Company also will be installed in the PILP III. Its director, Arietta Leandro explained that they decided to open its office in St. Louis for the easy availability of human resources. “In Rafaela, Santa Fe, there is one university with graduate faculty and very few systems. PILP were moved to the University. It is unique in the country. Infrastructure, connectivity, resources, all spectacular, set up an office in another place is not easy, “he reflected. Kinexo develops software for various business units. One of its products is related to classified ads, with which the firm has been very successful, said Arietta.

Other advantages of San Luis Technological Park

With regard to legal certainty, the Province in 2004 joined the National Law for the Promotion of Software Industry and PILP created by law, which gives legal support to the project. Another factor that differs is the connectivity it provides, through the Information Highway (AUI), the free broadband network that connects every town of San Luis with more than 20 people.

In addition, since the Park is organized trainings. NET, Java and DBA. And along with Microsoft are organized competitions for youth Robotics.NET Gaming.NET and secondary, with the aim of bringing the technology world.
